🔍 About the Meal
We started the day dressed for steak and ended it in blankets with bowls in our laps. If that doesn’t sum up a Sunday, I don’t know what does.
Dad surprised us with a “let’s go out” moment, and we headed to LongHorn. The filet was everything I wanted, the salad was actually cold, and the potato was so loaded it needed a nap. Steve skipped the traditional salad and ordered the 7-Pepper Sirloin Salad as his entrée. He made up for the lack of starter salad with two slices of bread and a smirk.
Dinner was the great divide: Steve wanted risotto, so he stirred and simmered his way into umami bliss. I pulled a container of sauce from the freezer, boiled some spaghetti, and called it a success — because it absolutely was.

📝 Sunday Notes
We left the house around 10:45 a.m. and made it to my parents’ just before 11:00. Not five minutes in the door, my dad announced he wanted LongHorn for lunch — which, honestly, was fine by me. I wasn’t about to argue with a man craving steak. By 11:49, we were all piled in the car and headed out.
Lunch was relaxed and surprisingly smooth. We ate, we chatted, and yes, I took pictures of everything like a food-obsessed tourist. After lunch, we swung back by my parents’ place for a bit before heading home. We were back in the driveway by 2:04 p.m., and within ten minutes, I was in my crochet zone with a blanket and a cat nearby. Classic Sunday energy.
Dinner was a low-key affair. Steve got ambitious and made mushroom risotto — because when he commits, he commits. I, on the other hand, fished out some meat sauce from the freezer, boiled spaghetti, and called it good enough. Because it was.
🎬 Behind the Scenes
This day wasn’t fancy. It didn’t follow the plan. But it worked — from spur-of-the-moment steak to risotto on the couch. It was a little bit elegant, a little bit lazy, and exactly the kind of Sunday I didn’t know I needed. No schedule. No expectations. Just food, family, and whatever leftovers the day threw at us.
