🔍 About the Meal

This week’s meat meal is summer simplicity and flavor perfection in one chilly, crisp bowl. Thin slices of freshly pan-seared Denver steak rest over a chilled Salad Base layered with cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and a hit of red onion for good measure. But the game-changer? That Pickled Cucumber & Bell Pepper combo — cool, crunchy, and just tangy enough to balance the warm steak. Carol opted for a Light Sesame-Lime Vinaigrette, while Stephen, as always, went all in on Creamy Blue Cheese. This dish might’ve started as a Monday meal, but it ended as a flavor bomb that left us wondering if we should be eating steak salad every day.

📝 Monday Notes

I forgot how quickly steak defrosts when it’s in one of those flat single-layer freezer bags. At 6:39 a.m. it was still solid, but by mid-morning, it was ready to roll. I originally thought about saving half for another day, but who am I kidding? It all got cooked. Now I’ve got easy steak bites for salads later this week, à la Frozen Grilled Chicken Breast Cubes.

🎬 Behind the Scenes

There was almost too much pasta planned originally — it looked like a noodle takeover. I scrapped that before plating and let the fresh salad and warm steak shine. The steak-to-salad contrast in temperature and texture is what takes this from “eh, another salad” to “wait, why is this so good?”
