🔍 About the Meal

We’re calling this one “the meal that kept on giving.” What started as a classic family lunch at Mission BBQ turned into a full-blown leftover win at dinnertime. While Steve opted for hot dogs at home (because he’s nothing if not predictable), I got to relive the smoky glory of that pulled pork sandwich with a side of baked mac and cheese straight from the takeout container. The only thing missing was a second serving of that ridiculous strawberry shortcake.

Honestly, we need to talk about Mission BBQ’s sides. That mac and cheese? Golden, crispy cheese on top with gooey elbow pasta underneath — the texture was basically perfect. And that cornbread cube was almost offensive in its density, but somehow still worked.

A Moment Worth Noting:

At 12:00 p.m., the entire restaurant paused as the National Anthem played. I love that they do this. Every single person stood — even the ones juggling trays and toddlers. It’s a Mission BBQ thing, and it never fails to impress.

Veteran dessert bonus: Strawberry shortcake, earned and devoured.

📝 Saturday Notes

The mac and cheese reheated like a champ, which is basically a miracle. Steve bailed on the leftovers for hot dogs — fine, more for me. I didn’t need the shortcake again… but I wanted it. Restraint is overrated.

🎬 Behind the Scenes

The real MVP? That tiny takeout fork that didn’t snap once. Also, shout-out to the AC for keeping the house below boiling — Florida in July is no joke.
